Harley-Davidson revealed four models in its limited-production 2014 Custom Vehicle Operations. The CVO Breakout introduced last year is back for 2014, and this time it is joined by the all-new CVO Softail Deluxe (pictured above) and the CVO Road King and CVO Limited touring models which also received elements of Harley-Davidson's new Project Rushmore initiative.
All four CVO models get exclusive components and paint treatments not available on other Harley-Davidson models, as well as a number of accessories from the company's catalog.
Each CVO model is powered by a Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 V-Twin engine (the CVO Limited also gets the new Twin-Cooled precision cooling technology). According to Harley-Davidson, the 110 engine produces 116.5 ft-lb. of torque at 3750 rpm (115 ft-lb for the Twin-Cooled version).
All CVO models also come standard with electronic cruise control, ABS, keyless ignition, and the H-D Factory Security System and a bike cover with the CVO logo.
2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Softail Deluxe
The CVO Softail Deluxe will be offered in three color options, Crimson Red Sunglo with Ruby Flake, Candy Cobalt and White Gold Pearl, and Maple Metallic and Atomic Orange. All three feature an Art Deco-influenced design Harley-Davidson calls Airflow.
The retro look is enhanced by the whitewall tires wrapping the chrome nine-spoke cast aluminum wheels. Additional chromed components include the low-rise handlebars and dual exhaust.
Other features include Daymaker LED headlight and LED fog lamps, LED indicators, an embossed leather seat with detachable passenger pillion seat, detachable sissy bar and luggage rack, lockable and detachable leather-covered saddlebags, "Musthache" engine guard with rubber foot pedals, detachable windscreen with integrated Road Tech zumo 660 GPS navigator with 4.3-inch screen, and riser-mounted digital speedometer and analog tachometer with fuel-level and gear indicators.
"The CVO Softail Deluxe is a fast classic," says Rasmussen. "Influenced by the Art Deco tradition of streamlining, we use many long, low lines on this bike. The luggage rack, the low-profile chrome console, the eyebrows on the headlight and spots, the medallions on the tank and saddle bags and even the Slipstream Collection accessories, work together to lengthen this bike's profile. The Airflow paint scheme is a classic design from the pre-war era."
The 2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Softail Deluxe is priced at $28,999.
2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Road King
The CVO Road King returns for 2014 with a number of blacked-out components including the handlebar, controls, mirrors and powertrain. As part of the Project Rushmore touring model line, the CVO Road King also receives Reflex linked ABS, new one-touch saddlebags and redesigned fenders.
Like the CVO Softail Deluxe, the CVO Road King comes with a Daymaker LED headlight and indicators, though it lacks the LED fog lights. Other upgrades include a custom two-piece seat with matching pillion, Heavy Breather air cleaner, detachable windscreen with adjustable vane, chrome billet heel shifter, and new internally-wired 1.25-inch handlebars.
Even more impressively, the 2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Road King carries a $28,499 price tag, $1,500 lower than the 2013 version. The CVO Road King will be offered in Tribal Orange and Galactic Black, Titanium Dust and Galactic Black or Deep Sherwood Pearl and Galactic Black. All color options feature Aztec Shadow graphics.
2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Limted
The CVO Limited benefits from two new Harley-Davidson offerings, the Project Rushmore touring updates and the Twin-Cooled precision cooling technology. The new engine runs cooler than the regular 110 engine which, with the new lower fairing shape, makes for a more comfortable ride in warm weather. The Twin-Cooled engine does have a bit less torque than the regular 110, with Harley-Davidson claiming a peak output of 115 ft-lb. at 3750 rpm.
Other features include Reflex linked ABS, a Daymaker LED headlight an LED fog lamps, the Boom! Box 6.5 GT infotainment system, the new Project Rushmore Batwing fairing with splitstream vent, and new fairing lowers to improve aerodynamics and house the Twin-Cooled engine's radiators.
The passenger seat is an inch wider and longer than previous seats, while the backrest has a new shape to improve comfort and lumbar support.
The 2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Limited is available in three color combinations with a Dragontail graphic: Stardust Silver and Autumn Sunset, Burgundy Blaze and Typhoon Maroon, and Jupiter Blue and Wicked Sapphire. The CVO Limited is priced at $38.999.
2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Breakout
The CVO Softail Breakout returns for 2014 with three new paint schemes: Molten Silver and Black Diamond with Forged Iron graphics, Candy Cobalt and Molten Silver with Abyss Blue graphics, and Hard Candy Sedona Sand and Blaze Orange with Abyss Black graphics. New for this year is the Bomber black leather seat with tribal details, chrome tank medallion and Heavy Breather intake and air cleaner.
The 2014 Harley-Davidson CVO Breakout is priced at $26,899, a $400 increase from its 2013 pricing.
