Ultra 300x top speed
Hi guys just wondering what is the norm for a completely stock 300x with limiter in place my speedo is saying 67 but my gps 64 and I seem to be getting smoked is this correct? Also top rpm logged is 7340.

you should be hitting around 7490 rpms and i have gps'd mine to 67.6 mph. And i think you are reading your rpms from the stored data. To determine your actual max rpms you have to look at them when doing a top speed run. How many hours on the ski ?

Ski has 69 hours now I've got 160 psi on 1,2,3 and 170 on number 4 that's with a cold engine, I just dunno why my gos is 64 and the dash is 67 cos I'm guessing the ski is limiting it to the 67 the dash is displaying?

well i would say next time your out have a look at your actual rpms when going full throttle, not from the stored data. But yes i understand sometimes the ski will not be running a constant 67 and that was sometimes the case with mine. The limiter can really hold it back, like your hitting a brick wall, and it might hold the ski back a little more than it should. Try doing a top speed run with the trim one above neutral, doing this made me see a constant 67.

Thanks chad I'll give it a try, wht did you do to get over it? Install the scom? I wonder if my speedo wheel is over sensitive I dunno what else it can be cos if it's 67 on the dash that's gonna be it right? It doesn't hardly feel like its being held back either.

nah no scom yet, trying to keep it stock till my engine warranty is over around early next year. The dash isn't exactly very accurate because i know mine can jump around from 60 to 67 mph when doing a top speed run. The only way to know your true speed is to use a gps. Yours may not be held back as much as mine quite possibly because i have the solas 14/21 installed so i guess that prop wants to make the ski go more than 67 so my speed gets brought down a fair bit till it steadies out at around 67.

How bout a good check of clamp hoses on SC and IC and maybe its time for a IC cleaning and exhaust filter inspection..seems to be the common lose of speed and rpms on the 300...btw get full boost (16lbs)?

Correct. I just broke in a new 300 motor over the weekend, and without SCOM installed my dash read 67 and three different GPS units gave readings from 64.5 - 65.6, which is when the limiter kicked in. The stock speedo wheel is not as accurate as GPS and reads a bit on the high side.Originally Posted by Timmymajic
